PROJECT UPDATE: We're Shovel Ready!
One of EDC's premiere projects, The Queensbury Industrial Park (QIP), earned Shovel Ready Certification from the Governor's Office of Regulatory Reform (GORR) last month. The designation means that the site has been pre-permitted, making it easier for businesses to locate here. Business leaders and location consultants nationwide recognize this program as a mark excellence. They know a pre-permitted site will reduce construction costs and development delays, saving them time and money. QIP will be marketed by EDC. "Based on our location and proximity to the area's medical device cluster we expect interest from technology-based manufacturing and support enterprises," said John Wheatley, an economic development specialist with EDC. "Of course, we have already signed the New York Army National Guard as our first tenant." Construction on the Readiness Center is set to begin later this year.
And we are, too!
The Greater Glens Falls Local Development Corp. also received Shovel Ready Certification for its project, Tech Meadows, located on the corner of Sherman Avenue and Veterans Road. The LDC's CEO Todd Feigenbaum reports that Tech Meadows also received a matching grant from National Grid in the amount of $10,000 to market the site; and additional grants have been obtained to connect the site with utility services. "Tech Meadows consists of eight, five-acre lots that are in a great location for businesses supporting AMD chip fabrication at Luther Forest," noted Wheatley, who will help market the park. Both Queensbury Industrial Park and Tech Meadows are located within Warren County's Empire Zone.
