Donate to Hospital and Park Projects -
Get a Tax Credit!

As part of the Empire Zone program administered by EDC, two local community development projects - the Glens Falls Hospital ER/OR modernization and the City Park improvement project - received approval in January for Zone Capital Credits. The credits will help these projects to raise funds for their capital improvements by making possible a 25% tax credit to individual donors who contribute above a specified amount. The tax credit is awarded in addition to whatever tax deduction a donor might be able to take on charitable contributions.

For the hospital, which is embarking on a $22 million project to expand its Emergency Room and renovate and enlarge its Operating Room, $200,000 in Zone Capital Credits are available to support its $2.4 million capital campaign. Individuals who give between $5,000 and $400,000 will be eligible for the tax credits, until the hospital reaches a total of $800,000 in donations made of gifts of $5,000 or more.

In the middle of downtown Glens Falls, the two-acre City Park provides welcome open space for quiet relaxation, informal gatherings, and community events. The Glens Falls Business Improvement District is leading the effort to improve the park's visual appearance, coinciding with the renovation and improvements being made to the adjacent Crandall Library. This project is eligible for $100,000 in Zone Capital Credits, available for donations of $5,000 and above, to support a fundraising campaign of $400,000.
