2008 Priorities for EDC
While there have been signs for several months that the national economy may be weakening, here in Warren County the pace of growth appears relatively strong. New companies are arriving with employment opportunities, construction sites abound, and our local educational institutions are preparing for future workforce development.
“At EDC, we focus on the strategic research and planning, infrastructure development, financing, and real estate opportunities that make economic growth in Warren County possible. Our top priorities for 2008 encompass projects throughout our county,” notes EDC President Leonard Fosbrook.
Key EDC initiatives for 2008 include:
- Providing expertise and facilitation for North Creek/Gore Mountain development efforts, including targeted assistance to primary businesses and employers in that area
- Developing a long-range plan for the South Queensbury/Airport corridor, which includes Empire Zone land and is targeted for Foreign Trade Zone status this year
- Continuing efforts to facilitate the revitalization of Glens Falls through Empire Zone administration, South Street development, and support of the Adirondack Regional Business Incubator
- Supporting planned commercial development in the Glens Falls Exit 18-Main Street development zone
- Assisting with Warren County's efforts to obtain broadband access throughout our region, so we have the digital infrastructure to connect locally and compete globally
- Maximizing business attraction, retention, and expansion efforts in Warren County through a comprehensive marketing program, including participation in the Center for Economic Growth's NY Loves Nano program, and other Tech Valley initiatives, such as NY Loves Bio
- Growing our network of local, regional, and state contacts so that we remain the leading resource for economic, community, and workforce development efforts in Warren County
If you want to maintain the pace of economic growth we have been fortunate to see in Warren County recently, we invite your active participation and membership in EDC. Call on EDC whenever we can provide information, expertise, or connections.
